A basic overview of health and safety topics for childcare providers. Topics include prevention and control of infectious diseases, sudden infant death syndrome & safe sleep practices, safety & supervision procedures, emergency preparedness & response planning, breastfeeding awareness and developmental screenings. This training meets the state requirements for training in basic health and safety procedures, as well as supporting breastfeeding in childcare settings.

A frequent topic of concern in early childhood settings is how to manage challenging behaviors. This training will introduce participants to a 5-step process for responding to challenging behaviors, including tracking behavior, creating behavior support plans, and communicating with families. Participants will leave the training with a variety of tools and resources for addressing challenging behaviors.

Note:
This virtual course satisfies the 45 hour Infant and Toddler course required by licensing to work in a MD infant and toddler classroom. There will be 15 required sessions that take place every Monday & Wednesday between September 9th - October 30th with the exception of 10/14.
**This course was previously offered FREE due to a grant with Maryland Family Network (MFN). If the grant is renewed, this course will again be offered FREE and any course costs will be fully reimbursed at the start of the class.**

The ZERO TO THREE Critical Competencies for Infant-Toddler Educators describe what educators can do to make the most of teacher-child interactions, to turn them into valuable learning opportunities that support infants' and toddlers' social-emotional, cognitive, and language and literacy development.
